BSA OA DSA scout knot patch -Boys’ Life card letter- George Feil National Chair. This is a very unique legacy item. This is a Boy’s LIfe card with a letter from Bill Downs to a Past National Chief dated 12/20/1986. At the time the card was written Mr. Downs was with Boys’ Life as Circulation Director, but previously was the National Secretary of the Order of the Arrow (which was the top professional position for the OA at the time). The card has an attached in plastic DSA knot that says. National Order of the Arrow Committee. June 1960-February 1978 (almost 18 years). Feil received his DSA in 1958. So the knot could be anytime from there to 1986. At the time he received it there were only about 67 DSA recipients. His son received it two years earlier in 1956 and was a National Conference Chief / Naitonal Chief at some points in time. The DSA is Distinguished Service Award for Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America. These charges are the buyers responsibility.
