This is a very Rare. Boy Scout South Atlanta District “Tar Baby” shoulder patch. From the 1950’s. This is an original short lived South Atlanta District shoulder patch from the Atlanta Area Council from Georgia made for the 1950 National Jamboree. South Atlanta’s West End is the home of Joel Chandler Harris,’the Wrens Nest’. He was the author of the Songs of the South and tales about Brer Fox, Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby as told by the lovable Uncle Remus and depicted in the Walt Disney movie. If I recall, these patches were made prior to the 1950 National Jamboree. They were still in use in the later 1950’s, but since districts usually don’t have their own patches, they eventually ceased to be worn. This patch is 100% original.
