Montana, fondly known as “Big Sky Country, ” captivates residents and visitors alike with its natural beauty, lifestyle, and unique character. The state’s historical appeal has drawn artists from the earliest days, from Native American pictographs to renowned paintings by Charles Russell, Edgar Paxson, and Ralph DeCamp. This enduring legacy of fine art contributes to Montana’s distinctive allure. In 2005, coinciding with the Lewis and Clark bicentennial, the Montana Council initiated a patch project to celebrate the event while highlighting Montana’s talented artists. Thus, the Montana Artists Series collectible patch project commenced. Since then, the council has featured the artist series annually, extending through 2025. The series includes a Council Strip, Order of the Arrow flap and bottom, and Jacket patches, fostering collaboration between Montana artists and the Montana Council to support Scouting America in Big Sky Country.
