This P-2 Patch Has a SCOUT SIGN, SS, on the Center Sail and Canal Zone on the Bottom, Where The P-1 Pie Patch Has Siwss Loom Embroidery, and the SPANISH CROSS ON THE SAIL. This PIE Shaped Patch Measures 250 x 145 mm. This Pie Was Issued In Appr. 1977, As The Patch Has “Canal Zone “, NOT Pamama Canal, and Has The NEW Scout Sign, SS, or Fleur de Leis, FDL, On The Sail Which BSA Enacted In 1977. THIS PATCH WAS MADE IN A VERY SMALL ORDER, AND WE HAVE ONLY SEEN FOUR OF THESE IN FORTY, YES, (40), YEARS, WHERE WE HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 20, 391 P-1 PATCHES, AND ABOUT 40, P-3 PATCHES. TOUGHEST OF THE 391 CHIRIQUI PIES. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE SEWN ON A NECKERCHIEF, BUT THERE ARE A LOT FEWER OF THESE THAN THE P-1, AND P-3 EVER MADE. IT TOOK ME YEARS TO FIND THIS PIE, AND YEARS LATER I EVEN PICKED UP THE PROTOTYPE. IN 1979 THIS COUNCIL CHANGED IT’S NAME TO THE PANAMA CANAL COUNCIL INSTEAD OF THE CANAL ZONE COUNCIL, SO THE BOTTOM OF THE FLAP CHANGED TO “PANAMA CANAL”, BUT THEY FORGOT AND LEFT THE CROSS ON THE SAIL FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND THEN ADDED THE SCOUT SIGN, SS TO THE SAIL. PATCHES, DIAMOND, AND PIE SHAPED PATCHES, & FLAPS FROM THIS LODGE WERE ORDERED IN ONE LOOM OR LESS, AND IN THE CASE OF THE BROTHERHOOD, AND 15 OR LESS VIGIL MEMBERS OF THIS REMOTE LODGE, MOSTLY MADE UP OF US SERVICEMEN & THEIR CHILDREN SERVING OUR COUNTRY IN THE CANAL REGION. This PIE Measures 250 x 145 mm. When this Lodge existed these flaps were very hard to come by, and Florida OA Collectors will tell you about 391 Chiriqui Lodge Members that would say, stack flaps till they hit my hand. These were usually 20 to 30 flaps high, including Restricted Issues. Canal Zone Council # 801, (1933 – 1979), Balboa, Canal Zone, CZ.
